Nigerian singer Victor AD has publicly apologised to fellow artiste Tiwa Savage over a musical collaboration that never reached listeners, acknowledging that he should have addressed the matter much earlier.

The singer, whose real name is Victor Adere, issued the apology in an open letter shared on social media, thanking Tiwa for recording a verse for the remix of his hit song, Wetin We Gain, which was never officially released.

Victor AD, known for the hit single Wetin We Gain, explained that the collaboration did not see the light of day and took responsibility for not addressing the matter sooner.

“An Open Letter to Mama Jam Jam, @TiwaSavage, I should have done this a long time ago, but it’s never too late to take accountability for my actions,” he wrote.

He thanked the singer for contributing a verse to the proposed remix, adding that he appreciated her effort and contribution to his musical journey.

“Unfortunately, the remix never saw the light of day,” he said, before praising Tiwa for her contributions to Afrobeats and the opportunities she has helped create for other artistes.

Tiwa Savage responded to the message with a brief expression of goodwill, indicating that she held no hard feelings towards him.

“I appreciate this. God knows the reason for everything. All love,” she replied.

The exchange has drawn attention to a collaboration fans never got to hear, while highlighting the importance of acknowledging professional relationships and contributions, even when a project does not come to fruition.

Released in 2018, Wetin We Gain was a significant record in Victor AD’s early career. The song explored the struggles of everyday life, ambition and the desire to enjoy the rewards of hard work, themes that resonated with many Nigerian listeners.

Its success helped establish the singer as a recognisable voice in Nigeria’s contemporary music scene. The proposed remix with Tiwa Savage offered the possibility of bringing their distinct styles together, but the collaboration remained unreleased.

Tiwa Savage has built an international profile through her music and collaborations with Nigerian and international artistes. Her response to Victor AD’s letter was conciliatory, with no indication of a lingering public dispute between the pair.

Victor AD did not provide further details about why the remix was abandoned. His apology, however, acknowledged Tiwa’s contribution and the need to have addressed the situation sooner.

There has been no announcement that the unreleased remix will be made available to the public.
