Minnesota governor in US declares October 6 as ‘Wizkid Day’ to honor singer

Nigerian Afro Pop star, Ibrahim Ayo Balogun, widely known as Wizkid is getting celebrated by the state of Minnesota in the United States, with October 6th, officially set aside in honour of his name, ‘Wizkid Day.’

According to a post made available on his Twitter page, this feat was achieved as he became the first African artist to ever sell out the Skyway Theatre in Minnesota, US on Saturday, October 6, 2018.

Also taking to his instagram page, Wizkid shared a post on the event with the caption, ”Sold out again last night! Love u Minnesota, y’all in my heart forever.”

The Governor of Minnesota, Mark Brandt Dayton described Wizkid as ”One of the most influential artists” on a night when he performed some of his hit singles like ‘Soco’, ‘Manya’, In My Bed’ and ‘Ojuelegba’ before a sold out crowd.

The only other artist who has achieved same feat in Minnesota, is Beyonce .

Recall that Wizkid, recently walked the runway at the Dolce and Gabanna show in Milan, Italy.

He strutted alongside supermodel Naomi Campbell and musician Tinie Tempah.

The music star is also the first African artist to walk the runway at a Dolce and Gabbana fashion show with his music `Soco’ played at the background.

Wizkid who just released “Fever” and “Master Groove”, he’s currently on tour in America.
