Liberian President, George Manneh Weah has declared all government owned universities in the country tuition free.
It was gathered that the football legend turned politician made the declaration when he visited the University of Liberia moments ago.
President Weah later proceeded to his Facebook page to share the announcement.
He posted,
“Today, I’m excited to announce that I have declared the University of Liberia and all other Public Universities in Liberia tuition free for all undergraduates.”
The university website also confirmed the statement posting moments ago that ” STUDENTS of the University of Liberia, beginning this academic semester 2018, will no longer have to pay tuition at the University of Liberia. That portion of the financial obligation would now be borne out by the Government of Liberia, meaning only fees those enrolled would now pay.”
George Weah now makes an indelible mark as a promise keeper following his campaign message of free education at the university level. The President during his campaign had promised to make University education free in the country and make Liberia an example to African nations around the continent.

President George Manneh Weah, who is by law Visitor of the University of Liberia, made the surprise announcement at the Capitol Hill campus of the University of Liberia, when he delivered a special back-to-back school statement in front of hundreds of students.
Students were incandescent upon hearing the news, shouting slogans of praise while dancing to the news.
