Nigerian-American Afrobeats artist, Samuel Apata, popularly known by his stage name Ewol Samo, marked his birthday on April 8th with a heartwarming act of kindness. Rather than celebrate in the traditional way, the Chicago-based musician chose to spend his special day with the children of Children Anchor Orphanage Home, located in Abijo, Lagos.

Through his newly established nonprofit, The Oladayo Shola Apata Foundation (The OSA Foundation)—named in honor of his late elder brother who passed away from bladder cancer two years ago—Ewol Samo donated essential food supplies to the orphanage and spent quality time with the children, creating lasting memories.

The visit was met with gratitude and emotion by the orphanage staff. In response to the donation, the caretaker expressed heartfelt appreciation to the foundation:

“Oladayo Shola Apata (OSA) Foundation, your help will not go unnoticed. Your donation will not go unappreciated. You have forever secured a spot in our heart. We couldn’t describe how indebted we feel towards you for your donation. Knowing that we are in a time of financial instability, your donation is extra special to us. Thank you for your generous financial support during this tumultuous time. Words cannot express how thankful we are for your hefty donation. May the light of good health, happiness, and love shine upon you.”

The caretaker also appealed to the foundation for further assistance with school fees and educational materials for children who are yet to be enrolled due to lack of funding. Additionally, a request was made for bunk beds for the girls’ hostel.

Moved by the visit and the needs of the home, Ewol Samo promised to do what he can through The OSA Foundation to continue supporting the children and improving their living conditions.

Beyond his philanthropic work, Ewol Samo is an emerging voice in the Afrobeats scene. He is also the creator and host of “The Wrong Guy Podcast”, where he shares candid conversations on culture, lifestyle, and music. He is currently working on his next single, which is expected to drop in the coming weeks.

With a growing platform and a giving heart, Ewol Samo is not only making music that resonates but also making a difference in the lives of others—starting with the future leaders at Children Anchor Orphanage Home.
