Nigerian pop star, D’banj CREAM platform marked its one year anniversary by rewarding lottery winners with cash prizes, he reiterated that the scheme was not a scam as feared by many observers.
He was asked by this reporter why the platform that he founded barely a year ago, could have made the $100 million he claimed it did and why winners were not known.
‘Some people have been registering on the cream platform and winning prices, ranging from a million Naira to 50,000, but I noticed that whenever we call the artistes to inform them of winning huge amounts of money, they become scared and don’t bother coming to claim their prices, it is understandable because of the present situation of the Country. They think it is a scam, they think it’s unreal, but I am here to tell you that it is not a scam, I have invited them here for you to see,’ he replied.
A raffle event, commemorating the occasion, took place at Renaissance hotel on Wednesday.
The raffle draw was conducted using mobile phone numbers as entry tickets. Five winners emerged within and outside Lagos respectively, after the draw, and were awarded cash prizes in Lagos.
Nigerian singer Harry Song and Godwin Tom, artiste manager, were amongst the industry heads present to mentor the winners.
He insists he decided to create the platform where upcoming artistes can upload their music and reach millions of Nigerians because he was receiving thousands of requests from up and coming artistes who wanted to ‘blow’.
‘I was shocked to see that in a few months, we had over 2Million subscribers, but have a great team of judges and A n R which includes Godwin Tom and Harrysongs, Ice Prince, Wande Coal, to help mentor the artistes which we are bringing on board. So, it’s not a lottery platform, the lottery part of it is just an added incentive. The winners are usually chosen by judges so even if I help the artistes shoot a video, they still need to make money, look good and move around, and for those who have already received their money, they know it is not a scam.’ Dbanj said.
When asked how he has been able to combine business with personal life, he said; “Staying focused continually. Be private with your life.
“With my glasses I am D’banj, without it I am Daniel.”
The Creative, Reality, Entertainment, Arts and Music (CREAM) platform provides upcoming artistes the opportunity to have their songs recorded and shoots videos for the budding artistes.
An innovative digital musical talent hunt, the platform also helps discovered talents secure collaboration with established acts.
Rayce, TK Swag, MKJ, Leke Benson and Legend Courage are the first set to benefit from the platform.
The singer had also announced the launch of his record label, DCream Records.
