Multiple award-winning Nigerian Afrobeat singer and Grammy Awards nominee, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy has released his much-awaited album.
Twice as Tall after release on Friday morning became an instant hit by recording over five million streams within an hour.
The album, which is executive produced by Diddy is expected to outperform Burna Boy’s last year’s album, the African Giant.
Twice As Tall is available on eight streaming Services: Spotify, YouTube, SoundCloud, Amazon Music, Tidal, Pandora, iTune Store and Deezer.
Burna Boy and his mom were also part of the production with Diddy, especially as the album was recorded in Lagos, because of coronavirus restrictions.
The album contains 15 tracks, featuring Senegal’s Youssou N’dour, Kenyan band Sauti Sol, Naughty by Nature, Chris Martin of Coldplay and Stormzy also make appearances, along with LeriQ, Telz, P2J, Rexxie.
The album also includes contributions from Nigeria’s Spaceship Collective, Mike Dean, Timbaland, and others.
According to Burna Boy, Twice As Tall touches on the realities of his life and tackles miseducation, global systemic racism, police brutality, corruption, and social injustice.
However, there are also reflections on the good times of his life as he offers messages of hope and home, delivering a cohesive album that sums up how he got to this high point in life.
“Twice As Tall is the album about a period of time in my life. It’s the album about the struggle for freedom. It’s the album about life in general, real life, good times, bad times, happy times, sad times, great times,” he said in a statement.
