Even in death, late King of pop, Michael Jackson, continues to reign as he has been named the top-earning dead celebrity for 2018, making it the sixth year in a row.
According to Forbes, Jackson’s Estate made a whopping £313 million over the last year.
Reports say MJ’s huge earning are mostly linked to the sale of his stake in EMI Music Publishing. Other lucrative projects for the singer’s estate included a TV special, Michael Jackson‘s Halloween, and a new Sony record deal.
Speaking on the iconic singer’s wins, John Branca, the co-executor of his Estate said:
“You see Charlie Brown Christmas and Charlie Brown Thanksgiving every year, so now we’re looking to have Michael Jackson’s Halloween every year. We hope that it’ll become evergreen.”
The figure brings Jackson’s earnings to £1.8 billion in the decade since his death on June 25, 2009.
Elvis Presley comes a distant second on the list, measuring pre-tax earnings of £31 million while Golfer Arnold Palmer was third with £27 million. Charlie Brown cartoonist Charles Schulz is placed fourth with £26 million, and singer Bob Marley was fifth with £18 million.
