Emotion ran high Sunday at the Lagos House, Ikeja, as Mrs Bolanle Ambode passed the mantle of leadership of the Committe Of Wives Of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) to the wife of the governor elect, Dr (Mrs) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu.
In what passed for a valedictory service for the outgoing First Lady, the ambiance of the programme was such that portrayed a gathering of well wishers who were present to celebrate her giant strides.
The high point of the event was a brief documentary put up as a surprise by the Royal Staffs who have worked with her overtime.
Taken unawares of the documentary which chronicled her humanitarian activities over the years as the First Lady, Bolanle Ambode who was in awe of the development could be seen wearing an emotional countenance. The staffers led by her media aide, Mrs Folashade Kadiri, soon showered encomiums on her a little while later after the documentary.
With emotion-laden words, Kadiri in a brief speech extolled the virtues of the First Lady for her motherly love and kindness towards them.
While thanking her for giving her staffers the much needed inspiration, as well as constantly urging them to aspire for excellence with strength and determination, Kadiri stated that the years spent with her were the most fulfilling without an iota of regret. This was as she asserted that the First Lady has booked a positive place in history, just as posterity would speak kindly of her great humanitarian deeds.
The speech which was laced with torrents of prayers for the First Lady generated rounds of applauds from the guest present in the hall.
Members of the Royal Staffs soon posed in a group photograph with the first lady who, in return, thanked them for such gesture.
