The midfielder Mesut Ozil’s agent Erkut Sogut says that talks with Arsenal over a contract extension are “going in a positive way”.

The midfielder’s agent has revealed that the player wants to remain in England for the next “two to three years” amid interest from Manchester United.

“Even if that did happen, he wants to play in the Premier League for at least two to three more years”.

Ozil’s contract at the Emirates expires at the end of the season, meaning that he is free to negotiate a pre-contract deal with clubs outside England from January.

As a result, his future at Arsenal, who he joined in 2013 from Real Madrid, has been in doubt for some time.

“Our contacts with Arsenal continue and are going in a positive way.”

Ozil who is yet to register a goal or an assist for Arsenal this season is still in doubt whether he will be fit for the Gunners’ trip to Watford on Sunday.

Arsenal are already missing Shkodran Mustafi, who suffered a hamstring injury during Germany’s 5-1 win over Azerbaijan last Sunday.
