Romelu Lukaku was the villain in Cologne as Sevilla claimed a historic sixth UEFA Europa League title by beating Inter Milan 3-2 on Friday night.

Sevilla’s record means that they are now the club with the most Europa league title in the competition history.

the thrilling final took off in the fifth minute when Inter took the lead through Belgian powerhouse Romelu Lukaku from the penalty spot after he was brought down clumsily by Diego Carlos.

Lukaku’s goal was his 34th goal of the season (equal to Ronaldo in 1997-98) and his 11th consecutive Europa League game on target. the forward only made the move to the Nerazurri from Manchester United at the start of the 2019/2020 season.

Sevilla were soon back in the game. In the 12th minute, Dutchman Luuk De Jong scored with a diving header at the near post off a Jesus Navas’ cross.

De Jong was on target again to give the Spanish side the lead from another header this time from an Ever Banega free-kick.

Three minutes later, Inter were back on terms at 2-2 with former Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin getting on Marcelo Brozovic’s free-kick into the net at the far post.

then came the deciding moment from Lukaku, which rather came in an unfortunate manner as he redirected a Diego Carlos overhead kick into the net to put Sevilla 3-2 up.

Inter made a triple substitution- with former Super Eagles winger Victor Moses making an appearance- and it almost paid off on 82 minutes, as Moses first and then Alexis Sanchez tried to get the equalizer from six yards.

In the end, Moses was to be denied his second Europa crown- having first won it with Chelsea in 2013- as the Nerazurri pressure could not prevent Sevilla for making history in Gdermany.
