Popular content creator, Bello Alliy Adetola, known as Ocean Vibes, has said that social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram have completely changed career opportunities for Nigerian youths, giving them opportunity to build income, brand influence and global recognition directly from their phones.

Ocean Vibes in a recent interview revealed how the digital era is reshaping youth empowerment and career possibilities in Nigeria.

“Social media has changed everything for young Nigerians. It has opened up opportunities that didn’t exist before, now you can build a brand, a career, or even a business just from your phone,” he said. “Platforms like TikTok and Instagram have given young people the chance to show their talent, connect with others, and reach a global audience. It’s really about creativity now, not just connections or location.”

He further said the feedback from his audience has been a major motivation to keep creating.

“The feedback has been really positive. A lot of people tell me how much they enjoy the videos and how they can relate to them,” he says. “Some say our content reminds them of their own relationships or makes them smile after a long day. Messages like that really motivate me to keep going and keep creating.”

On what young Nigerians aspiring to enter the content creation industry should do, he advised them not to wait for the perfect moment and build on originality.

“I’d say just start. Don’t overthink it or wait for everything to be perfect and learn as you go,” he says. “Be consistent, stay true to your style, and focus on what makes you different. It takes time, but if you’re passionate and genuine, people will connect with your content. Most importantly, enjoy the process and keep improving.”

Ocean Vibes and his partner have grown a loyal following across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, gaining attention for their unscripted, humorous and relatable couple moments which is a far cry from the over-filtered trend-driven social media norm.

With social media now at the centre of entertainment, marketing and youth influence in Nigeria, creators like Ocean Vibes say the era of gatekeepers is fading, and digital creativity is now the new economy powered by visibility, relatability and originality.
